The line-balancing practitioner frequently encounters multiple objectives and uncertainty in the available data as well as precedence. Whilst the research literature has examples of these two issues being considered independently it is difficult to find reference to their simultaneous consideration. This paper presents a chance-constrained, binary integer, goal programming approach to the mixed model stochastic assembly line balancing problem. The proposed method is illustrated by a numerical example, and a diverse range of objectives that a decision-maker may face while balancing lines have been considered.
