Developing Partnerships to Combat the 'Digital Divide'

The University of Maryland has recently begun a partnership with Byte Back, a computer skills training program for unemployd and underempolyed persons in the Washington, D.C. area. Thus far, the University has provided short-term positions to two interns from the program. This paper describes the partnership and explores the challenges faced to date, including administrative, managerial, and performance issues.
