Discrimination of flaws evolution patterns during pressure vessels static and dynamic cycles of loading thanks to the acoustic emission method

In France, the regulation requires that the pressure vessels be subjected before any use to a resistance test and periodically every ten years after. In the case of a hydraulic test, the maximum of pressure is fixed at 1.5 times the vessel design pressure (PC). In order to avoid some disadvantages related to this kind of test, the industrialists wish to replace the hydraulic test by a pneumatic one in the service conditions, associated with a technique of monitoring which makes it possible to observe the following conditions: -Guarantee of the safety. -Reduction of the costs. -Compatibility witht he organisms of safety and companies. -Respect of the current French standardisation and adequacy with the new European directives.
