摘要

Electromagnetic casting (EMC) is being utilized in aluminum casting to improve surface quality. However, EMC for steel has not yet been put to practical use. Recently the demand for quality cast steel has increased from the point of view of saving energy and reducing production cost Therefore, EMC for steel has been developed as a national project on electromagnetic processing subsidized by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan. In the project, various kinds of techniques of EMC were investigated. In the presentation the improvement of steel quality by the EMC method using ultra-high-frequency magnetic fields will be discussed mainly based on the results of plant trials of billet continuous casting.
