The use of lasers and robots and the automation of processes requires a risk analysis that includes the protection of the components used in the different process areas. While today there is usually a person included as control in the security system, within two years time at the latest the security can and will have to be such that laser systems perform their tasks safely without any supervision, like the production lines already in use now for the traditional welding processes. Processes usually are being supervised globally and malfunctions detected visually, but the use of lasers requires protective walls or closed cabins, which are not transparent for the laser, beam and impair detection of malfunctions within the process control.
