In comparing with IR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy is much more powerful for conformation and structural characterization for the azobenzene derivatives because the frequency of the -N=N- stretching band in azobenzene derivatives can be detected easily by Raman spectroscopy. [1-2] Temperature-dependent Raman and IR spectral variations of azobenzene-containing long chain fatty acids (nAmH, n=8, 12; m=3,5) in the solid state has been investigated as an 2D Raman and 2D IR-Raman analysis. Fig. 1 shows the three-dimensional stacked-trace of the Raman spectra of 8A5H in solid state at different temperatures.
