摘要

Raman spectroscopy is a highly sensitive and precise analytical technique to characterize phase transition and solid modification in liquid crystalline (LC) compounds through changes in peak wavenumber, linewidth and relative intensity [1-2]. The molecules of a liquid crystalline material in the crystalline phase are arranged periodically in three dimensions, in uniaxial unit cells. Owing to the large size of the molecules, the liquid crystalline materials show polymorphism (crystal modification) on cooling.[3] Phase transitions in liquid crystals are associated with structural [41 as well as molecular changes and it may cause appearance/disappearance and/or sudden shift in the peak position, intensity and linewidth of the Raman marker bands .
