摘要

Porcine colonic spirochetosis (PCS) is a newly emerging non-fatal colonic disease of growing pigs caused by the intestinal spirochete Brachyspira (formerly Serpulina) pilosicoli (1). The disease is endemic in most major swine producing countries of the world (2), and although the mechanism of diarrhea and pathogenesis are incompletely understood, diet has been suggested as a possible risk factor for infection and clinical disease expression. The purpose of the present study was to determine the roleof dietary factors in modulation of B. pilosicoli infection and colitis in a challenge model of PCS.
