INNOVATIVE USES OF AGGREGATE FINES IN HOT-MIX ASPHALTS

Large stockpiles of excess or waste materials and natural deposits of gravel exist across the USA. High frequency screens and special crushers are now available that are capable of sizing these aggregates into smaller particle groups at high production rates. Sizes can be separated to ranges such as 3/8" to #4, #4 to #8, #8 to #16, #16 to #50, minus #50 or otherwise as desired. Reblending to specific proportions produce highly rut resistant mixtures and many of these blends have very low permeable voids.
