The use of high speed in the wire-drawing process to meet the demands for increased productivity has a great effect on the heat generated due to plastic deformation and friction between the wire and the drawing dies. In case of the high carbon steel wire drawing process, the temperature rise gives a great influence to the fracture of wire. In this study, the calculation method of wire temperature considering the temperature drop at each pass from die exit to next die entrance was mathematically proposed. And then the useful program for the calculation of wire temperature was developed. Using the developed program, the estimation of the wire temperature was performed for the conventional pass schedule. As a result, the calculated wire temperature was good agreement with the measured temperature at each pass in multi-stage wire drawing process. So, using the program to predict the wire temperature, the isothermal pass schedule program was developed. Applying this isothermal pass schedule program to the conventional process condition, a new isothermal pass schedule was designed through all passes. As a result, the ability of wire fracture could be reduced and the productivity of final product could be more increased than before.
