We have used Metal Insulator Silicon Carbide (MISiC) sensors, Metal Oxide Sensors (MOS) and a linear lambda sensor in an electronic nose to measure hot flue gases on-line. Several reference instruments, which measured the flue gases in parallel to the sensor array, were connected to the electronic nose. Flue gas from a 500 kW pellets fuelled boiler, which is used for heating apartment blocks, has been used to feed the experimental set-up. The gases which are interesting to measure is NO, CO, O_2 and hydrocarbons (HC). On-line quantification of these gases would make it possible to regulate the boiler for a better power economy, which would also reduce the emissions of hazardous gases. Results on prediction for CO, NO, O_2 in the flue gases based on PLS models are presented.
