LMBV as project-manager took over the complex remediation of "Schwarze Pumpe" plant, a lignite benefication plant. This consists of PowerStation's, briquette factories, coking plant and a gasification plant. Erected at alluvial soil, some contaminants as phenol and benzole are traced by high water depression down to groundwater layers in 120 m depth. Groundwater modeling allows to predict the change of waterflow, following the water rise from year 2002 onwards. LMBV developed a cluster for economicinvestigation of the contamination. Only 40 out of 140 suspicious sites are of high hazard ranking. By selecting appropriated techniques, as skimming about 85 t of residual phases or in situ water treatment at different locations, very few soil replacement is necessary. Research work is carried out on solvent extraction and natural attenuation processes. As project manager, LMBV orientates the remediation at the following use. In order to support the economic revitalisation of the region, LMBV preparesselected industrial areas to facilitate the settlement of new industrial companies. LMBV as service provider is able to combine economic remediation and site-development. More than 12.000 new jobs, created by LMBV, are the best prove.
