Harmony Between Performance and Economics of Microalloyed Steels

To achieve the objective: Specifically, the competitiveness of steel depends on three foactors: (a) engineering properties and fobricability, (b) weight reducing potential, and (c) cost. Among the various microalloy systems, vanadium-nitrogen steels offer an attactive combination of strength and fabricability at low cost. In vanadium steels, the alloy design is aimed at maximizing the two cost cost-effective strengtening mechanisms; grain refinement and oprecipitation hardening. Vanadium-nitrogent steels have the potential to economically replace carbon steels in a variety of products.
