摘要

This paper deals with the behaviour of Class 4 cross-sections under axial force and bi-axial bending. According to Eurocode 3 Part 1.1 Chapter 5.4.8.3 two different, but equivalent criterion can be use to calculate the resistance of Class 4 cross-section. Through two simple examples, the different criterions are compared. In the first example a thin walled hollow-tube section is evaluated, and in the second example a thin walled HP European cross-section is evaluated in case of multicomponent load. Finally, on the base of comparison some conclusions are summed up.
