Contaminated Land Remediation at the London Olympic Park: A Reflection on Green and Sustainable Remediation

Background/Objectives. The 2012 London Olympic Games are considered a great success, with significant achievements ranging from greening the Olympic to its best gold medal tally since 1908. In building the London Olympic Park, one of the largest contaminated land remediation projects occurred. The remediation work at the London Olympic Park site was conducted as part of the enabling work on a land of approximately 200 ha. The entire enabling work project was estimated to cost ￡393 million, with approximately ￡200 million direct spending on contaminated land remediation.
