ONE-STEP SYNTHESIS OF CARBON DOT PHOSPHOR FILM FOR WHITE LED

In recent years, carbon dots (CDs) have emerged as an intriguing and promising fluorescent material as phosphor for white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) [1, 2]. In order to enlarge the potential application of CDs in white LEDs, the CDs with high quantum yield (QY) of 57.3% and high red-green-blue (RGB) spectral composition of 60.1% were synthesized by one-step hydrothermal method. Citric acid (CA) monohydrate acted as the carbon source and N-(3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl) ethylenediamine (KH-792) served as the coordinating reagent and passivation additive. Finally, the CD phosphor film, which was directly obtained by a simple heat-treatment of CD solution, was combined with UV chip to achieve white LED. Moreover, the interaction between carbogenic cores and the surface functional groups was investigated using Materials Studio DMol~3 module, so as to understand the photoluminescent (PL) mechanism determined by surface states on CDs.
