摘要

Introduction Hybrid nanostructure materials are thought to provide improved performance and extended applications. For instance carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and metal (oxide) hybrid has attracted much attention as better catalysts, electrocatalysts and sensors. In order to make such a hybrid the surface of CNTs should be modified. Modification of CNTs is carried out through covalent bonding methods such as refluxing in oxidizing acids and exposing to highly reactive species in plasma atmosphere. Plasma treatment is an easy and flexible approach in which the quantity of functional groups may be adjusted by changing operating parameters such as power and exposure time. Plasma discharge in H_2S atmoshpeher generate SH radical which attach to surface of CNTs. Surface thiolation of CNTs is a promising route for the dispersion of metal nanoparticles e.g. Au and Pt for electrocatalysis application [1,2].
