摘要

Carbide derived carbon (CDC) materials offer tremendous advantage over traditional carbons due to their tunable pore sizes, narrow pore size distributions, and controllable heteroatom content. Careful choice of the metal carbide precursor and etching conditions has allowed for precise control over CDC synthesis for targeted sorbate-surface interactions. Recent studies have shown high uptakes for carbon dioxide; up to 7.1 mol/kg at 0° C and ambient pressure [1]. This study focuses on tailoring these materials for carbon dioxide sorption via surface functionalization methods. A water adsorption study has also been conducted, as the co-adsorption of water is an important limitation for use in flue gas applications.
