In pharmacy, targeted delivery of drug molecules to tumour tissue is one of the most interesting and challenging attempt because of specific environment that exists in tumour and toxicity of the anticancer drugs which cause harmful side effects because they target healthy cells as well as tumour cells. Therefore there is a huge need to develop a system which will enhance a therapeutic effect and reduce the toxic effect of the drugs. Hence, in the study we have synthesized the system of ferromagnetic graphene oxide functionalized with anticancer drug - methotrexate (MTX). The ferromagnetic properties of the material was introduced via deposition of Fe_2O_3 particles on the surface of graphene oxide. The anticancer drug molecules were attached via covalent functionalization. The material was characterized with transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, FT-IR, XRD and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
