Studies about TYLCV variability in Spain

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a member of the family Geminiviridae of the genus Begomovirus (previously known as subgroup III). TYLCV is transmitted by the whitefly Bemisia tabaci. Severe crop losses in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) are attributed to diseases caused by TYLCV in some Mediterranean countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Marroco, Turquia, Israel), the Middle East, Africa and South-East Asia. It has also been reported in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba, Florida, the Bahamas and Canary Islands.
