In the last years the fuel cell engines received an increased importance in commercial and passenger cars. The new technology seems not so familiar in the automotive domain. Firstly this foreign element cannot join the traditional power train. Sosurprising is the fact, that actually the fuel cell needs in its development the help of knowledge from the conventional side.Since the fuel cell does not provide the air itself, a compressor is required, which hauls the air stream in a pulsating manner. The engineering of the air current, of the air filtering and of the acoustic requirements is to be considered. Then theproblems are soluble with traditional and advanced methods at both sides, at the air intake and the exhaust system.This is a recent challenge for an automotive supplier like M+H to be responsible for the development and design of an exhaust system, as against the existing situation to be responsible for the air intake system only.
