Taylorism and Dejour's vision of work: ergonomics, an alternative to old problems

Labor, in a social context, is an essential element in view of the construction of the human being; although life is not only labor, it cannot be understood without it, and as labor is part of the human being's life, it cannot be the cause of his suffering. The authors, using Taylor's production analysis model and Dejour's work approach, engage on the formulation of new concepts for a new organizational design and new ways of labor organization where participation, flexibilization, intuition and values are the new paradigm not only to the enterprise but also, and mainly, in the management. Ergonomy makes possible this point of view, favoring global aspects for quality, promoting more liberty and responsibility to the employees, allowing expressions of creativity and individual talents. To the authors, the ecologic/holistic approach proposed by ergonomy appears to be the most interesting proposal for people/labor/environment harmony, foreseeing this to be the most appropriate way for man to be acquainted with the modem, without losing his roots of natural being, and introducing a way which, if not new, constitutes an alternative to ancient organizational problems.
