This paper presents a novel K-band push-push oscillator using miniaturized microstrip hairpin resonator. To improve phase noise characteristic, a miniaturized hairpin resonator which has high loaded Q-factor has been used for the oscillator instead of a conventional hairpin resonator. The measurement of the oscillator itself shows that the suggested oscillator provides a higher output power while the phase noise is maintained at the level in the conventional case. The push-push oscillators are designed to operate at 18 GHz using the conventional and miniaturized hairpin resonators and to compare the phase noise performance and output power level under the same dc bias condition. The measurement shows an output power of -2.74 dBm and 1.87 dBm respectively. The phase noise of the push-push oscillator using the miniaturized resonator shows -93.17 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset, which is about the same of the conventional one.
