The deployment of zero-emission technologies, such as hydrogen-powered fuel cells for mobile applications, is a key component of AQMD's strategy to meet the region's air quality goals by the year 2010. With an expected growth in hydrogen-powered fuel cell technologies in the South Coast Air Basin, the cost-effective production and supply of hydrogen needs to be further expanded. The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has contracted with Hydrogen Burner Technology, Inc. to develop a system that can reform Landfill Gas (LFG), methanol, and/or Natural Gas to Hydrogen. This skid-mounted system, when completed, can be fitted with compression, storage, and delivery apparatus for field testing as a Hydrogen Refueling Station.
