A general method for the correction of end effects on the aerodynamic drag of bluff, two-dimensional bodies in wind tunnels

A correction procedure has been developed at the National Research Council of Canada (NRCC) that permits a correction to drag measurements for the three-dimensional flow distortions produced by end effects on a bluff, two-dimensional model mounted in a wind tunnel. The procedure is general because, once derived for a given set of end conditions, it can be applied to geometrically similar bodies as a simple analytical adjustment that is a function of measured drag and model aspect ratio.
