meta-Chloro-phenylpiperazine as an agent for provoking cluster headache attacks: a study versus placebo

Meta-Chlorophenylpiperazine fmCPP) is a 5HT2/ja receptor agonist that induces migraine-like headaches.1 We were the first to report the occurrence of mCPP-related cluster headache attacks in cluster headache patients2 in the cluster period. The advantages of employing mCPP as a cluster headache attack trigger are:mCPP acts through the selective stimulation of 5HT_(2/1A) receptors.it is possible that mCPP plasma levels correlate with observed clinical events during the study period.To further investigate the role of 5HT_(2/1A) receptors in triggering cluster headache attacks, we administered mCPP and placebo to a larger group of cluster headache patients in both cluster period and remission.
