To find out the facts that cause the adoption and use of computers in Mexican agribudiness an empirical investigation was conducted a region known as Soconusco in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Both individual and organizational were studied. Regarding the individual factors, the age of the owner/manager of the agribusiness is not related to the adoption of computers, however, the level of education, having a different business -other than agribusiness- and a progressive attitude shows a positive association to the adoption and use of computers. On the other hand, regarding the organizational factors, the size of the agribusiness, the complexity of the business, the number of employees, the level of value added to the product, the target market - if international - and the use of farm records are associated to the adoption and use of computers.
