Elastic modulus of weathered rock of Jurong Formation in Singapore for Bored pile design

The elastic modulus of weathered rock of the Jurong Formation is estimated using soil investigation results. Rock core information and presuremeter test results, which are generally available from the soil investigation in Singapore, are used for the estimation. The estimated values are then compared with those back-calculated from pile load test results. The back-analyses of the pile load tests (compression and tension) are carried out using a FEM program. Among the elastic moduli estimated by four different methods, the value estimated from the presuremeter test results is in good agreement with the value back-calculated from the compression pile test. The elastic modulus from the tension pile test was lower than that from the compression pile test.
