We present a method for the object-oriented analysis of a time-constrained medical teleinformation system. This method combines static class diagrams with timed statecharts to describe dynamic aspects. Depending on the application, the system can be hard-, soft- or non real-time. In the: first two cases an arbiter object must be included. The Arbiter implements a priority hierarchy that assigns bandwidth of the network object to the different applications according to their priority. The type of applications the system can support is highly dependent on the communications network used (dedicated or non dedicated). There is a wide range of options to implement this type of systems, going from dedicated LANs to MANs to multihop packet switching networks, including satellite links. A telediagnosis case study illustrates our ideas.
