CO_2 Sequestration: Opportunities for Government-Industry-Academia Partnerships

On June 22-23, the MIT Energy Laboratory, under a grant from the U.S. department of Energy (DOE), hosted a Stakeholders Workshop on Carbon Sequestration options for GHG mitigation. This event is part of a larger effort aimed at soliciting input on research agendas and priorities from industrial and academic stakeholders and forming partnerships. Over 100 people participated in this meeting. In a plenary session, speakers described the context for the meeting, including the political, economic, and technology aspects. Then, the workshop divided into breakout sessions by industry groups. Specific recommendations were made for R&D priorities, possible partnerships, and the way forward.
