Characterization of Two Strains of Bacillus thuringiensis Isolated in Korea

Two different strains of bacillus thuringiensis (K9903 and K9805), both toxic to lepidopteran and dipteran insects, have been isolated in Korea. They belonged to B. thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki (H_(3a3b)) and aizawai (H_7), respectively. They had typical bipyramidal parasporal inclusions. K9903 harbours cry1Aa, cry1Ab, cry1Ac, cry1E and cryII genes and K9805 has cry1Aa, cry1Ab, cry1C, cry1D, and cryII.
