This paper deals with the usage of dry ice grains jet of -80°C instead of conventional fluid as cooling material in grinding process for the purpose of solving the problems, such as environmental pollution, caused by the fluid coolant. Grinding experiments using a resinoid cBN wheel show that normal grinding force in grinding with the dry ice coolant is a little higher than that in grinding with the fluid coolant, but, by using the dry ice grains jet together with MQL, the grinding force decreases by nearly 20%.
