Cr_2O_3 could become a hydrogen sensor operated at room temperature via the transformation from p-type to n-type semiconductor by adding multi noble metallic additive and appropriate promoters. It behaves more sensitive to oxygen in hydrogen or forming gas atmosphere leading to a room temperature oxygen sensor as well. The effects of additives, of promoters and of temperature on the p-n transformation of Cr_2O_3 are investigated. The sensing behavior of Cr_2O_3 RST is described and an example of measuring the oxygen content of waters from various sources is provided.
