The diamond anvil became a widely used tool due to the application of the ruby method for pressure determination and the possibility of obtaining quasistatic megabar pressures. The application of gem quality single crystals for anvil manufacturing permits due to their transparency into a large range of the lengths of electromagnetic waves to carry out the optical, X-ray and spectroscopic studies of researched substances at high and super high pressure. Choice of the diamonds and cutting of them are the essential factors for achievement of super-high static pressure. The presence of nitrogen plate formations in diamonds influences substantially on the anvil resistance to the deformation.
