The time domain simulation of heave, pitch motions and wave bending moments is described in regular head seas. The small amplitude linear theory and a large amplitude nonlinear method based on the linear theory are used to predict ship motions and wave bending moments in the time domain. A series of measurements of ship motions and wave bending moments is carried out with a container ship model at different wave frequencies, wave amplitudes and forward speeds. The nonlinear theoretical prediction results are compared with the experimental data and there is a good agreement between them.
