Structure rerefinement of l-glutamic and with the aid of the x-ray 4-circle diffractometer

Single crystals of 1-glutamic acid (C_5H_9NO_4) were grown at room temperature from the aqueous solution. The crystals belong to the orthorhombic system with the cell parameters: a=5.154(1), b=17.274(3), c=6.942(1) A. The space group is P2_12_12_1 with four molecules in the unit cell. The diffraction data were collected with the aid of the 4-circle diffractometer KM-4. The K_ alpha radiation of Mo anode was used. 5075 unique reflections have been measured. 1713 reflections were considered in the structure analysis and refinement. The structure was solved with the use of SHELXTL/PC programs and the agreement index R is equal to 0.060. These results are compared with the X-ray [1] and neutron [2] data obtained earlier.
