The applicability of the X-ray methods for determining the crystallographic texture and the amount of the phases in the commercial tube is estimated. The Schultz back reflection technique was used for the determination of incomplete pole figures of ferrite and austenite. The measurements were performed by means of the point counter (conventional) and by the pseudo position-sensitive (pPSD) detection technique. For each phase, the orientation distribution function (ODF) was calculated and then used for the reproduction of the complete pole figures. The complete pole figures were used in the Quantitative Phase Analysis (QPhA), according to the original method, free from the texture induced errors. The volume fraction of austenite and ferrite was determined also by means of the classical direct comparison method of Averbach and Cohen as well as the metallographic point method, for comparison.
