This paper describes the optimal shield design of solid insulated vacuum interrupter(VI) with epoxy resin to improve the reliability and stability. The shape of shield has been investigated to minimize the electric field intensity at the triple junctions of VI. In order to design an optimal shield, its static electrical field is calculated by FEM and optimized by RSM using L9 orthogonal array. As a result, the optimal shape of shield could be obtained.
