NRC plans for implementation of the joint convention on the safety of spent fuel management and the safety of radioactive waste management

In September 1997,an international instrument was opened for signature that,when it goes into effect,commits countries ratifying it,to establish,maintain and periodically report on their practices for managing and disposing of spent nuclear fuel radioactive waste.Plans to implement the obligations of the Convention for U.S.commercial and defense high level waste are discussed.
