Several subgrid-scale (SGS) models for large-eddy simulation (LES) of both compressible and incompressible flows are discussed, which are believed to be good candidates for handling industrial flows. These models can be referred to as second generation SGS models, because they all include specific features which ensure their auto-adaptative capacity, leading to an improved account for the local state of the flow. Some examples are given which illustrates the behavior of these models in the near wall region for both incompressible and supersonic regimes.
