The optimization of the functioning of a home appliance and its consumption requires an intelligent system of estimation and management which takes into account a number of values and factors typical of the process. Yet, owing to the costs involved, these quantities cannot be directly measured. Therefore, the introduction of virtual sensors has been adopted. Thanks to the use of soft computing techniques, integrated with a preliminary study of the process based on traditional analytical methods, this problem has been solved by resorting to appropriate indirect measurements.
