In this paper, a new way called "Solution deposition method" was empolyed to make composite membrane, which consisted of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) hollow fiber substrate membrane and an active layer of the blend of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and chitosan (CS). After cross-linking it with glutaraldehyde, the membrane was used in pervaporation to separate ethanol-water mixtures, for the feed 95%(wt) ethanol at 48°C, it showed permeation rate of 40~70g/ (m~2.h) and separation factor 100~200.
