An Alternative Prepreg Braid Form

Increased applications involving tubular composite materials have required that new methods be developed to produce resin impregnated braids. Golf shafts, bicycle tubes, fishing rods, down hole tubing and boat masts are a few examples of how braids are being used presently in industry. Advanced composite braids provide vibration damping and are lightweight, making them more appealing than metals. In addition, the ability to produce near-net shape parts reduces costs and postproduction work.
