摘要

The solidification cracking susceptibility of weld metal microstructures is very sensitive to the solidification temperature range and amount of eutectic that forms at the terminal stages of solidification. The effect of these factors on cracking susceptibility is discussed by considering microstructural development in simple binary eutectic systems. Examples are then given to illustrate how such concepts can be extended and applied to more important cases of multi-component commercial alloys, using Nb bearing Ni base superalloys as an example.
