The results of the investigations for high-intensity magnetic separation technology carried out at theMekhanobrchermet Institute in the recent years are presented inthis paper. The design of the Krivoy Rog mining andbeneficiation complex for the oxidized ores, which is at thestage of completion, is described. The methods for theproduction of the concentrates from the hematite ores which canbe used for metallization (less than 3 percent SiO_2) and thesuperclean concentrates (less than 0.4 percent SiO_2) have beenexamined. Test results with ferro-magnetic matrices for high-intensity magnetic separators are presented. A grooved-screensmatrix as a new type of ferro-magnetic matrix is proposed.
