SCTV is the system used by the flight stfety officers at the ARIANE launch site in Kourou,French Guyana to ensure the safety of proposed launcher trajectories and to monitor the trajectory within predefined safety limits during flight.Radar measurements and on-board telemetry are used to determine the launcher trajectory and to detect dangerous situations in real-time.Radar measurement processing includes refraction correction and filtering. The filter type and parameterisation is chosen to provide the best compromise between trajectory smoothing and the quick detection of deviations. An off-line prototype was developed and tested using measurement data from real flights and from simulated deviated flights. The operational system was implemented independently using stfety-related development techniques, with software and hardware classified according to safety criticality. The system was designed using the HOOD methodology and coded in Ada.Test tools including AdaTest were used to verify conformity with code complexity and test coverage criteria.PV-Wave was used to verify results obtained with the operational system against those of the prototype.
