Contamination control on space vehicles : Evolution of a space profession

摘要

The goal of this article is to make different actors of a space project aware of contamination set of problems. Contamination control is hereafter presented as a fully-qualified space profession. This paper describes different contamination sources and effects and presents a status of spacecraft contamination control needs. Two main approachs are discussed, the classical one based on a standardized preselection of materials and an emerging system engineering approach applied during the whole life of a project. Research action lines are issued from this discussion.
