摘要

The experimental results on extension speeds of microcracks occurred in ZL101Al/SiC_p composite under planar impact loading are presented. A specially designed experimental approach was adopted to get the samples with progressively damage levels under the same loading conditions. The microscopic observations on the damaged samples showed that, in the current composite, most of microdamage are the particle-cracking or particle-debonding and, after a finite loading duration, the extension of these microcracks would traverse the free distance between two nearest neighboring microcracks. The extension process and growth speeds of microcracks were related to the stress levels. Also, some microstructure parameters of the original composite and microcracks were checked by means of microscope and Image Analysis.
