摘要

A new 3-D numerical model for tracing flow paths of glass melts in a tank furnace was developed. The model is based on a finite difference method with a rectangular grid. In the previous paper (1). the reliability of the model was verified by comparing the simulated results with those of experiments. The model has two features, i. e., the use of the Naviei-Stokes equation with the expansion term (normally omitted for an incompressible fluid) and the use of the compressibility of fluid to calculate the pressure from the density of a fluid under thermodynamic equilibrium. The effect of bubbling in the glass melting was evaluated with the flow paths and the residence time obtained by the application of the model to a throated furnace.
