The maker-supplier-relations in the automotive industry change to cooperative partnerships called product development cooperations. In development cooperations the maker develops products with a small number of selected component suppliers, while he concentrates on his core competence. The suppliers directly apply their specific knowledge to the development of entire components. At the same time "Concurrent Engineering" (CE) as an organizational concept is used to shorten development time and improve the quality of the product and the production process.
